Across the globe, people are being told to stay at home and practice ‘social distancing’ in the wake of the worldwide corona-virus pandemic. If you’re usually a very busy student, the switch from your everyday regular life to now staying indoors all day can be tough. However, there are lots of ways you can keep yourself occupied during lockdown! We thought we’d compile a list of quarantine activities you could do during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Take an Online Course

This is a good time to catch up on an online course that complements your course of study or any of your other fields of interest. There are lots of online courses which can facilitate you to learn new skills, without stepping out of your living space. You can choose a course which you feel will be helpful to start your study abroad journey.

It could also be a course that teaches a practical skill in a very professional way; say, public speaking for instance. Joining an online course will not only increase your skills but will also offer you a competitive edge over other students.

Online learning platforms like Coursera, Udemy, Skillshare, and MasterClass are offering a catalog of free courses for universities around the world, impacted by the corona-virus. Free access to their online courses is given to support students to continue learning as seamlessly as possible. Most of the courses provide you with a certificate which will add significant value to your resume in the future.

So, utilise this time and learn something which will help you at later stages!

Prepare for Your Study Abroad Journey Post Lockdown

Right now, you’re probably sitting at home and thinking that the COVID-19 situation has put all of your study abroad plans on hold. But that's not the way we cope right?

Take this time out to pause, plan and prepare! Get started on a comprehensive research process and make a fresh plan towards your future.

Universities abroad have decided to support and guide new international students. The changes to the start of the courses are made to ensure that the students can continue their study abroad plans.

Learn to Bake

You would have probably seen a minimum of one or two posts on homemade loaves of bread on your social media feeds as most people are stuck at home in quarantine.

For many, baking bread has become a favourite quarantine pastime as there is a major shortage of bread now. And for those who are curious and have been interested in baking but just couldn’t seem to find the time before, there’s plenty of time for all the trials right now!

There is no better smell than freshly baked bread! Take this opportunity to find out the ways to bake a new type of bread, like sourdough, and teach this skill to your friends while you’re at it.

Develop New Skills

Nowadays, everyone is a star, thanks to social media. Millennial today are creating and posting their own content on the internet and growing an audience like never before!

This might be a great time to explore your interests and develop new skills or rekindle old passions. It doesn’t matter what you are particularly good at, just go ahead and share your skills with the ever-growing online community, market it, and exchange ideas and thoughts with relevant members.

Use this quarantine to develop some new skills. You could probably channel your feelings by doing something creative even. Start a blog maybe? Art too, is a good way to express yourself, and helps you calm and see things in a whole new way. Or you could simply sing and dance away to glory! Try to show your passion to this world, connect with like-minded people through social media, and join a bigger community.

Keep Yourself Healthy

Even though you may not have access to the gym, you can look into online training portals and home exercises to get fit. There are many forms of exercises that can be done within your living room itself. Get it personalized as per your needs and take a step towards a healthy lifestyle. Remember, fitness keeps the mind distracted, focused and strong.

In many places, when you are under a strict stay-indoors mandate, you still are allowed to go outside for exercise while still following self-quarantining rules (definitely not in groups but while staying at least six feet away from each other). For mental health, yoga and meditation not only helps people stay calm but also enables many individuals to stay focused, remain present, and appreciate what they have.

Well, here it is! These are some of the things that you can do during this quarantine period.  It’s true! When the going gets tough, the tough get going! Take a moment and take a deep breath. This is going to be over soon and you’ll be stronger than ever. For now, we’re sure this checklist will keep you occupied enough to keep you going.

Stay healthy, Stay home, Stay Safe!
